Youth Multi-Ethnic Football Festival

Mainland Football is pleased to announce the 2021 Youth Multi-Ethnic Football Festival!

The festival is a seven-a-side football festival for nine to thirteen-year-old girls and boys. It's open to all ethnic community organisations in Christchurch.

Location: English Park, St. Albans
Date: Sunday 15th August 2021
Time: 9am to 5pm
Cost: Free!

The Youth Multi-Ethnic Football Festival is organised by Mainland Football in partnership with Christchurch City Council, supported by the New Zealand Police, Sport Canterbury, the Human Rights Commission, and the Christchurch Foundation.

The festival has three goals:

  1. To increase the awareness of cultural diversity in Christchurch.
  2. To provide the opportunity for ethnic youth groups to mix, celebrate and share cultures.
  3. To encourage and promote participation in physical activity and healthy lifestyles.

"It's a celebration of diversity and building friendships through football by bringing together players and supporters from around the local region and to help build relationships and understanding between their communities." - Martin Field-Dodgson, Mainland Football CEO.
