Val Smith Appointed in the Nelson Bays Football Operations Administration Manager's Role


Mainland Football is delighted to announce Val Smith as the new Operations Administration Manager, based in Nelson.

Val has recently returned to Nelson after working in Australia for 6 years. During her time in Australia, she worked as the Bowls Office Manager and Women's Bowls Coordinator at the Merrylands Bowling Club.

Val is a current international bowls player for New Zealand with over 600 representative caps. She has multiple World Championship and Commonwealth Games medals where her biggest achievement was winning double gold in the singles and pairs in the 2008 World Championships.

When she was younger Val played women's football in Nelson for 16 years and represented the Nelson province throughout that time. She also represented New Zealand at the under 21 level, was a member of the New Zealand 'B' team and was in the New Zealand squad for 6 years.

We look forward to Val beginning her role on Monday 12th April 2021.
