Request a Referee

For a number of reasons, the Mainland Football Referee’s Committee (MFRC) need to have control over referee appointments, and this includes referee requests by clubs for games and tournaments:

  • The MFRC's aim is to make sure that referees are not refereeing games above their experience level (‘friendlies’ are not always friendly).
  • The MFRC does not want any referee being overexposed to one team over the season and would also like to spread the opportunities amongst referees who would have made themselves available, had they known a game was requiring a referee.
  • The MFRC will only support competitions where referees are supported by disciplinary rules and regulations.

This does not mean we will not give referees the opportunity to referee games and tournaments, but the MFRC want to make sure that the referees are supported by either Mainland Football or tournament implemented rules and regulations, particularly when it comes to discipline. Therefore, clubs are urged to get tournament disciplinary processes well in place when in the organisational stage of tournaments.

CLUBS AND COACHES ARE ASKED NOT TO CONTACT REFEREES DIRECTLY, ASKING THEM TO REFEREE THEIR GAMES OR TOURNAMENTS.
