We are pleased to be here today for the final of the English Cup and face a real challenge in the form of Ferrymead Bays who have had a tremendous Southern League season which has seen them qualify for this year’s national league, and we wish Alan and his team  all the best with their summer program.  

We come into todays game off the back of a couple of good performances in the Southern League and a positive to feel around the club with our confirmation of our participation in next years National League,  we are looking to finish off the season with another trophy which would be our 3rd over the last 3 years.

Lastly a massive thank you to all our fantastic supporter’s , hopefully we can give you something to cheer about today.​​​​​​​

It’s Cup Final Day (again)

I hope a strong football crowd attended both finals at One NZ Stadium, and that Cashmere Technical helped showcase South Island football with a couple of wins!?

The chance to compete for a trophy is one of the reasons we play the game, and it is a great way to finish the season at English Park with an English Cup Final against our neighbours, Coastal Spirit.

Ferrymead Bays have lifted the trophy four times before, and the players will relish the challenge of bringing home a fifth.

There is little to separate the two teams, and with several players having represented both clubs, the East Christchurch connection remains strong, alongside our Otakaro FC partnership.

The teams have met twice in the Southern League this season, with Bays securing a comeback 2-1 win at Tane Norton Park and a commanding 6-0 victory at Ferrymead Park.

Coastal will be determined to respond, while Bays will be fully focused on achieving their goal of bringing home the trophy.

The players have enjoyed an excellent season and earned a place in the 2026 National League, but they can be trusted to set that aside and give the cup final their full attention.
